Meet Megan

Love is Learning.

Megan Michelle Charles is the founder of Love is Learning, a personalized tutoring and educational coaching practice built on a simple belief: when children feel known and cared for, they learn. An honors graduate with a Master's in TESOL (M.Ed., cum laude) and a B.S. in Elementary Education (magna cum laude), she's a certified teacher and reading specialist — credentialed across reading, ESOL, elementary education, and educational media for grades K–12.

Over more than 13 years, Megan has taught the full spectrum of learners — and she works from the conviction that every child, wherever they are, benefits from closer, individualized support. Rated a “highly effective” teacher and chosen for leadership roles in some of the most demanding, high-accountability classrooms in the country, she has also advised education-technology companies on how children learn.

Long before the classroom, Megan’s focus was developmental psychology — how children grow, think, and come to trust — and that naturally led her toward peer-reviewed research on how a teacher’s closeness shapes young students’ confidence, later presented at the American Educational Research Association. In the classroom, that same understanding shaped how she taught, and how she coached fellow Miami-Dade educators — developing adaptive math models so more students could be met exactly where they were. And now, beyond the classroom, she brings that philosophy directly to families. More than a decade in, the conviction hasn’t changed: her non-negotiables are active engagement, a learner-first approach, and genuine rapport — not because they’re nice to have, but because that’s where the learning actually happens. So she chooses to love that process, and to share it with as many learners as she can, one at a time.

Her instruction is grounded in the science of reading and structured literacy, and it works on two levels at once. She supports the standards-based skills a child is measured on in school — reading, writing, and content mastery — while building the deeper capacities those grades depend on: articulating one’s own thinking, prioritizing ideas, drawing on digital sources responsibly, and adding authentic thought rather than borrowed answers. Bridging both is the point. She founded the practice to give families a genuinely personalized alternative to one-size-fits-all tutoring — instruction that begins by understanding your child, then builds a bespoke plan around their strengths and goals.
